The widespread use of sunscreens has made great strides in reducing skin damage due to sun exposure.  Unfortunately some of the ingredients in standard suncreens raise questions of their own.  One common ingredient in sunscreens is oxybenzone, which some environmental scientists consider a possible carcinogen; other sunscreens contain nanoparticles, which may warrant further study related to their ability to create dangerous free radicals and penetrate skin cells.
